Job Description

Our client is a well-established Agrochemicals company in Nairobi. They are looking to hire a well experienced, competent and mature candidate to fill in the position of an Accountant.
The purpose of this role is to provide and maintain the company’s books of accounts for timely decision-making, accurate reporting as well as detecting and safeguarding losses arising from fraud and/or human error. 

Key Responsibilities
·  Responsible for the safe custody of cheque books, payment vouchers and receipts.
·  Raising payment vouchers and ensuring allocation of costs is done as per approved chart of accounts
·  Prepare all payments being made and ensure that there is substantial documental evidence to support the payment. 
·  Ensure that all payments are approved as per the Company Finance policy and procedure manual.
·  Reconcile all creditors’ accounts on monthly basis and ensure that all creditors are paid on time.
·  Ensure the company accounts are correctly posted in Tally accounting software.
·  Maintain accurate and appropriate company books of account.
·  Manage petty cash expenditure, including money advanced to staff as imprest and ensure it is accounted for and records are maintained
·  Maintain record of rent due and payments of the same.
·  Assist in preparing management accounts on quarterly basis.
·  Responsible for computation of depreciation of company fixed assets.
·  Carry out filing of Finance department, retrieval and re-filing of documents and ensuring documents are when required.
·  Prepare monthly reports on petty cash balances, supplier balances, Assets register and staff loans, advances and imprest balances.
·  Prepare and release creditors’ cheques.
·  Assist whenever requested to do bank reconciliation on monthly basis.
·  Assist in monthly VAT returns.
·  Assist in the filing and remittance of all other statutory obligations (Withholding Tax, HELB, NSSF, NHIF)
·  Assist in half year and annual external financial audits. 
·  Be responsible for warehouse stock take.
·  Assist in preparing budgets and forecasting activities.

Desired Qualifications, Skills & Abilities
·   A Business related Degree from a recognized university 
·   CPA-K qualification.
·   At least grade B at “O” level.
·   Atleast 3 years’ relevant experience in a busy SME.
·   Good communication and interpersonal skills.
