Position: Head Safari Guide – Bush Safaris
Location: Arusha, Tanzania
Salary: 1000 – 1500 USD

Our client is a leading player in the hospitality industry in Tanzania. They operate several base camps across Serengeti and Tarangire National parks providing high end luxury safari experience. 
 
They are looking to hire a mature, hands on, self-motivated and guest-oriented candidate who will be responsible for managing a team of guides and tour drivers. 
 
The successful candidate will be expected to collaborate with other support staff, and management to ensure efficient operations and seamless coordination of safaris and related activities to give guests a memorable bush experience.
 
Key Responsibilities
·         Guiding and hosting guests for during scheduled bush safaris
·         Supervise a team of guides and tour drivers
·         Ensure the guides always provide high standard of service and support to all guests
·         Maintain, care for and be responsible for any company equipment and assets entrusted to you including vehicles
·         Provide exceptional client service, going above and beyond to exceed guest expectations and create a positive and memorable experience for all
·         Ensure proper follow-up on guest requirements and complaints are addressed
·         Be responsible for guest safety at all times and comply with the liability measures
·         Ensure all guides do not solicit tips or money rewards from guests as per company policy
·         Ensure all guides treat the environment, people and their culture with respect.
·         Monitor all guides' driving skills and any misuse of the vehicles to be reported to the Operations Manager promptly.
·         Ensure all guides report any mechanical issues/problems to the Mechanics and Chief of Fleet, also fill in the vehicle maintenance checklist forms.
·         Ensure cleanliness for all the vehicles is well maintained inside and outside-before/during and after operations by performing a thorough inspection before any departure or provide any service to the guests.
·         Ensure all guides adhere to their daily code of conducts and report any misconduct to the Operations Manager promptly.
·         Ensure guides do not receive any unofficial calls on their mobile phones in the presence of the guests as per the company policy and while driving to excuse the guests first before picking up any official calls
·         Always coordinate and organize all driver guides during safaris to ensure smooth operations.

Required Qualifications, Skills and Experience

·         Diploma/ Certificate in Tour Guiding/ Travel Operations/ Hospitality or related field of study. 
          A valid professional guide’s license is highly desired
·         Atleast 6+ years’ experience in tour guiding preferably in bush safaris. Proven past experience as a Head Guide is preferred
·         Excellent verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage and captivate guests
·         Time management and organizational skills to plan and execute scheduled safaris efficiently
·         Problem-solving skills to address unexpected situations or challenges that may arise during a safari and find suitable solutions.
·         Flexibility and adaptability to accommodate the varying needs and preferences of guests
·         Good knowledge of the safari locations, including their history, culture, landmarks, and attractions.
·         Basic first aid knowledge and the ability to handle emergency situations calmly and responsibly. A current and valid First Aid certificate is preferred
·         MUST Possess safe driving record and valid driving license.
·         Excellent leadership and team management skills.
·         Guest-oriented and service-minded
