Our client is one of the leading renewable energy providers in Tanzania. Their services range from simple household energy solutions to comprehensive fully independent operations at off grid locations. They are looking to hire a well experienced, competent and resourceful Technical Manager to head their engineering department. He/She will be responsible for planning, directing, coordinating and developing strategies for the installation, service and workshop team for the successful completion of tasks to ensure clients’ satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Team Management:
· Work Closely with Sites Manager and Field Engineers to achieve efficient installation results and customer satisfaction with optimal lead times.
· Technical and Operational Performance - Identify operational and technical issues to ensure timely and quality installations that meet relevant standards
· Assign and receive weekly reports from the Workshop Supervisor, Field Engineers HOD and Sites Manager and plan the week ahead.
· Constantly review supplier technical documents and train the teams to efficiently use and adapt to changes.
· Review Large Project quotations and prepare proposal summary
· Communication and Reporting - Prepare timely and accurate monthly and quarterly reports for the technical department and present them to Senior Management
· Management of the engineering department - Lead the implementation and improvement of overall procedures and policies of the technical desk
· Day to day management of renewable system installations (Solar PV, EV charging, battery storage
· Book, schedule and organize resources (direct/contractors) for efficient delivery of projects
· Develop project quotations to comply with company parameters
· Designing the electrical installation required for the relevant renewable solution
· Produce Client/Business reporting and MI
· Oversee all on-site activities related to Field Engineers, including Health & Safety/Compliance
· Assist in the management of regulatory issues which affect project permits, licenses, etc, as well as establish and maintain good relationships with suppliers, contractors and other external stakeholders.
· Ensuring quality of work and regulatory standards are adhered to post completion.
· Ensure projects are completed on time within budget whilst continuing to manage customer expectations
Feasibility Study & Scheme Design
· Manage client site assessments of existing system configurations and operations
· Manage compilation, analysis and reporting of data
· Manage conceptual design of energy related projects
· Manage preparation of final report and presentation
· Conceptual design from feasibility stage, including on-site assessments as necessary
· Provision of design iterations honed to meet client expectations
· Identification of all component requirements required to meet design parameters, including balance of system
· Provision of full project proposal for final iteration outcome inclusive of line and schematic drawings
Technical Support:
· Provision of technical support to the project implementation team throughout the implementation period
· Managing and responding to customer technical queries
· Approval of design changes on site iterations
· Site visits to ensure compliance with scope, specification and build quality
· Planning and implementing maintenance schedules and updating colleagues on work progress
· Implementing and maintaining asset management system and managing costings of site projects/modifications
· Carrying out risk assessments for maintenance and unplanned works
· Taking responsibility for all maintenance staff on site including personnel development
Required Qualifications, Skills and Experience
· Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field
· Certification in Solar/ Solar water heating system will be an added advantage.
· Over 5 years of experience in project management within the electrical engineering sector
· Must be able to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally
· Commercial sensitivity with ability to deliver results within agreed timelines and budgets.
· Conversant with CAD and other design soft wares
